lyrics

That hid my face
So afraid to tell the world
What I've got to say
But I have this dream
Right inside of me
I'm gonna let it show, it's time
To let you know
To let you know

This is real, this is me
I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me

Do you know what it's like
To feel so in the dark
To dream about a life
Where you're the shining star
Even though it seems
Like it's too far away
I have to believe in myself
It's the only way

This is real, This is me
I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me

You're the voice I hear inside my head
The reason that I'm singing
I need to find you, I gotta find you
You're the missing piece I need
The song inside of me
I need to find you, I gotta find you

This is real, this is me
I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me
You're the missing piece I need
The song inside of me (this is me)
You're the voice I hear inside my head
The reason that I'm singing
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me

Three Eagles in Top 10 of UAAP MVP race

MANILA, Philippines – Three players from the league-leading Ateneo Blue Eagles barged into the Top 10 in the tightly-fought Most Valuable Player race in season 71 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men’s basketball tournament.

Leading the Eagles’ charge for the MVP plum is Ateneo big man Rabeth Al-Hussaini, who finished second to 2006 MVP Jervy Cruz of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigers.

Veteran Ateneo guard Chris Tiu came in third while Eagles forward Nonoy Baclao placed seventh.

Al-Hussaini finished a surprise second to Cruz amassing 62.85 statistical points (SPs) after averaging career-bests of 14.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. He had a breakout game in Ateneo’s 72-66 loss to the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws where he had season-highs in points, 33, and rebounds, 20.

Cruz, the Tigers’ six-foot-four do-it-all big man, was the only player to have per game averages of 16.1 points and 10.7 rebounds tallying 63.71 SPs to enjoy a 0.86 lead to Al-Hossaini.

Tiu, the Eagles’ on- and off-court leader, collected 60.71 SPs to land in third followed by defending champion La Salle Green Archers’ Rico Maierhofer and JV Casio, who placed fourth and fifth respectively with 56.57 and 55.28 SPs.

National University ’s Edwin Asoro came in sixth with 53.13 SPs followed by Baclao, who garnered 51.14 SPs to place seventh.

Rounding up the Top 10 are UST’s Dylan Ababou, eighth 50.71 SPs; University of the East’s Elmer Espiritu, ninth 49.43 SPs; and FEU’s Benedict Fernandez, 10th 47.86 SPs.

FEU’s Marnel Baracael, who is still recovering after being shot last month by still an unidentified gunman, placed 21st overall with 41.5 SPs.

Tigers teammates Ababou and Cruz ended up tied in scoring this season with 16.1 points per game. Cruz also topped the rebounding department with an average of 10.7 per game while Japs Cuan, UST’s top playmaker who is also recovering from an injury, was the league’s best passer with 6.3 assists per outing.

FEU’s lanky center Aldrech Ramos was the UAAP’s No. 1 shot blocker with with 3.1 blocks per game while the Tamaraws Andy Barroca and Ateneo’s Eric Salamat posted 1.7 steals per game to end up tied in the department. – GMANews.TV
Tamaraws face Warriors; Falcons meet Bulldogs

Far Eastern University hopes to sustain its momentum against gritty University of the East to fortify its bid for the last twice-to-beat incentive in the 71st University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament Thursday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Tamaraws-Red Warriors tip off is set at 4 p.m. right after the no-bearing game between Adamson University and National University at 2 p.m.

FEU and defending champion De La Salle University are currently tied at second with identical 10-3 slates behind the league-leading Ateneo de Manila University, which clinched the first twice-to-beat ticket by virtue of its impressive 12-1 win-loss record.

The Red Warriors (8-5) took the last semis berth on Sunday following an 89-87 win over University of Santo Tomas.

“We need to be consistent both on offense and defense against UE dahil mabilis silang kumilos. Mas magandang manggaling kami sa panalo para nasa amin yung momentum pagpasok sa semis,” said FEU coach Glenn Capacio who will rely on slotman Reil Cervantes, JR Cawaling, Aldrech Ramos, Mark Barroca and comebacking Mac Baracael.

The Warriors, on the other hand, are expected to go all-out to keep their morale high going into the semifinals.

Meanwhile, the UAAP Board has already received the complaint letter of Adamson and is expected to come up with concrete solution in the next few weeks.

“UAAP Board president [Dr. Sergio Cao] is out of the country he will return on Sept. 6 [Saturday], when he comes back we’ll decide if we will have an emergency meeting to address this matter,” said board member Hercules Callanta of host University of the Philippines.

Adamson team manager Romeo Lerit asked the UAAP Board Tuesday to look into the incident that happened on Thursday when La Salle defeated the Falcons in overtime, 84-78, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Lerit said that after the game, UAAP Deputy Commissioner Ogie Narvasa confronted him in an arrogant manner for sarcastically clapping his hands on the passing game referees.

The Adamson community insisted a public apology from Narvasa or otherwise, Lerit said, he will take the matter to the legal court.

Narvasa, however, denied the allegations.

UE avoids late collapse to beat UST, complete Final Four cast

The University of the East Red Warriors pulled off an 89-87 victory over the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers Sunday, a win that completed the semifinal cast of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament.

But the Warriors took this one on the edge.

They saw a 24-point lead in the third whittled down to 88-87 with 37.6 seconds to go in the game.

In that span, UE point-guard Paul Zamar split his free throws to make it 89-87 and UST missed three attempts from three-point range that sealed the Warriors’ eighth win in 13 games.

The victory safely pushed UE into the semis while it ousted UST (5-8).

Ateneo is currently at first place with a 12-1 record followed by De La Salle and Far Eastern University, which both have 10-3 cards, and then UE (8-5).

Ateneo will bring a twice-to-beat advantage versus UE in their semifinal meeting.

La Salle and FEU will settle which one between them will have the twice-to-beat advantage when they meet separate foes in the tournament’s last playdates. – GMANews.TV

UE spoils FEU’s bid to earn twice-to-beat in UAAP semis

MANILA, Philippines - University of the East spoiled Far Eastern University’s bid to claim the second twice-to-beat edge in the Final Four, pulling all the needed stops to score a 73-61 win in Thursday’s game in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Warriors closed out the double-round elimination with a 9-5 card to remain in fourth place, but more importantly, the win has boosted their morale as they prepare for the semifinal round where they will face the No. 1 seed Ateneo Blue Eagles, who enjoy a twice-to-beat bonus.

Ateneo only needs to win one game to claim the first finals berth, while UE, swept by the Eagles in the regular season, needs to beat the Norman Black-mentored squad twice to enter the best-of-three championship series.

The loss had the bigger impact on the Tamaraws who were trying to fortify their hold for the No. 2 spot and the twice-to-beat bonus that goes with it.

FEU and coach Glen Capacio must now hope that defending champion La Salle Green Archers lose to the Eagles on Saturday to force a playoff for the second spot. A La Salle win against Ateneo gives the Archers the twice-to-beat incentive and will let them face FEU in the semis.

An Archers’ loss will mean La Salle and FEU will have a best-of-three series, with one game a playoff for the No. 2 ranking and two games in the Final Four.

At one point, the Red Warriors seemed to show the same signs in its first round loss to the Tamaraws, where they blew a double-digit lead and allowed their opponents to escape with a 71-69 win.

FEU trimmed UE’s double-digit lead to six a number of times the last time at 63-57 with two minutes and 34 seconds left in the game. Marnel Baracael’s three-pointer ended that FEU 9-5 exchange to answer James Martinez’s triple at the other end.

UE played with much poise after that, with Elmer Espiritu’s putback, off a Martinez missed layup, starting off a Warriors’ closing 10-4 run.

UE’s defense also held their own against FEU’s big men as Espiritu, Narciso Llagas, and Raphael Reyes had crucial defensive stops that secured the Warriors’ victory.

Reyes’s pesky defense resulted in consecutive steals for UE as he forced the usually reliable Andy Barroca to commit back-to-back turnovers.
Barroca’s errors came in the final two minutes of the match with FEU needing to score.

Llagas paced the Warriors scoring with 17 points behind a seven-of-12 shooting on the floor. He also grabbed seven rebounds, had one assist and two block shots in 30 minutes of play.

Martinez backed him up with 16 markers, three rebounds, and two assists while Paul Lee added 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Paul Zamar and Reyes came off the bench and combined for 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, and six steals also for UE.

Benedict Fernandez led FEU with 16 points, four rebounds, and one blocked shot, while Reil Cervantes and Aldrech Ramos added 10 points each.

Barroca, who averaged 20 points in FEU’s last three games, was held to only seven points as Warriors coach Dindo Pumaren put in fresh legs to pester the Tamaraws’ high-scoring guard.

Barroca’s season-low was six points in FEU’s 74-69 win vs UST on August 17. - GMANews.TV
